This page lists athletics and activities for school-aged children - outside of school athletics and activities. Examples include: youth baseball, cheerleading camp, girl scouts, flag football, etc. This page does not include information about junior high and high school athletics and activities. Those are listed within the Junior High and High School pages on the website. Information about JH and HS athletics and activities will come directly from the schools and their front office and athletic/activity office staff are the ones to contact with questions.

YMCA Summer Camp Opportunities
Pre-K - 9th grade; Summer Camp: Day Camp And Overnight Camp; June 3-Aug 16
Registration for the 2024-2025 season is now open through June 2nd for players born in 2006 - 2019.

2024-2025 Registration and tryouts for North Scott Soccer Club
There are no tryouts for players born in 2015-2019 or players born in 2006-2010 who will be in high school fall of 2024. Players must be registered to tryout. Tryouts for players born in 2010-2014 will be held on Tuesday, June 4th for the girls and Wednesday, June 5th for the boys. Thursday, June 6th will be used in case of a rainout. Tryouts will be held at the Hickory Creek Soccer Park 830 S Buttermilk Rd, Eldridge, IA 52748 (Buttermilk fields). Please arrive 15 minutes before your tryout session time in order to check in. Players should wear shin guards and bring a ball and water bottle. Tryout times are the same on both days based on year of birth:
birth year 2014 -- 5:30 pm - 6:15 pm
birth year 2013 -- 6:15 pm - 7:00 pm
birth year 2012 -- 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm
birth year 2010-11 -- 7:45 pm - 8:30 pm -- (this is NOT for players who will be in high school starting the fall of 2024)

The bid date for players born 2012-2014 is June 13th. The bid date for players born 2006-2011 is June 19th. Players will not be informed prior to bid date whether they make a team per Iowa Soccer League Tryout Regulations.

Junior Golf Clinics

Palmer Hills offers professional golf instruction in both group and private settings. PGA Professional Jon Waddell, Butch Haverland, and staff can help improve your game. Clinics are 1-1/2 hours Monday, June 10th through Wednesday, June 12th. Clinics will start at the designated time on the left side of the driving range. You're welcome to come early and warm-up on the putting green and short game area. Range balls, tees, towels, and drinks will be provided. Ages 8-12 at 8:30am, Ages 13-17 at 10:30am.

Kickoff Tennis Camps

Packed with drills, conditioning, strategy, and a lot of match play, this camp experience will have players working hard, having fun, and improving their tennis game.

Two age groups are available. The first is designed for beginner and intermediate players ages 5-12 years old. These one-hour camps take place on smaller courts and use smaller tennis balls that are easier to hit, allowing students to achieve success more quickly. The second is designed for players aged 12-18 looking to take their game to the next level and are ready for tournaments and match play. We will train like pros with high intensity drills, patterns of play, and point building strategies. Students will learn how to construct points using spin, pace, and placement. Excellent preparation for players interested in high school and college tennis.

Junior Achievement Classes

Bettendorf Parks and Recreation has teamed up with Junior Achievement of the Heartland to provide you with financial literacy classes this summer!

 

JA ALL ABOUT CARS™, introduces students to the essential costs related to buying and operating a first car and offers tips on being a smart consumer when purchasing a vehicle.

This class is for teens in 9th-12th grade. Cost is $15.

Tuesday June 11th from 11:00AM – 11:45AM


JA Economics for Success®, helps teens plan for their future success by introducing work and career readiness and personal finance concepts. The course consists of three lessons. Each lesson includes interactive discussions and activities led by a community volunteer. Participants will explore career interests and opportunities and learn about financial roles and responsibilities. All program materials are provided.

This class is for kids in 6th-8th grade. Cost is $45.

Tuesdays from 1:00PM-2:00PM, June 11th – June 25th.


Deadline to register for both classes is June 7th.

 

Teen Vehicle Maintenance Clinic

We have partnered with our friends at ACE Auto Doctor and Repair yet again! This time around, teen registrants will PHYSICALLY perform the following vehicle maintenance tasks:

  • Check tire pressure and change tires.
  • Check and replace fluids under the hood including wiper and coolant.
  • Replace engine oil and replace oil filter.
  • Connect to the onboard computer and read codes and live data.

Registrants will be broken into groups of 3 and will perform the tasks mentioned above. This will be a fantastic opportunity for teens to learn and practice essential car maintenance tasks!

Saturday, June 15 at 10am-12pm

Fee: $20

Ages: 15-20

Location: ACE Auto, 2226 State Street, Bettendorf

Registration for FALL SOCCER and FLAG FOOTBALL will open June 17th.

Paint Party!

Tails are wagging for another fun-filled paint party with Bettendorf Parks & Recreation and Art with Kare! All materials and instruction are provided by Art with Kare, so all you need to bring is your creativity! Pizza and water will be provided after the class, so our paintings can dry a bit before taking them home! Pre-registration is required.

Sunday, June 23rd 3:00PM – 5:00PM

Ages: 7 – 14

Cost: $40

Tennis Lessons

Summer tennis is managed by Dan Patrick who has been a USPTA teaching tennis professional directing summer camps for over 20 years. Additionally, coaches Tim Baldridge, Betty Christian, Kevin Johnston, Rich Hoover and many of last year’s staff will return to teach this summer!

 

Select your child’s age group, ability level and preferred time. Many options to choose from!

Two-week lessons start June 24th, July 8th, July 22nd and August 5th.

Ages: 5 – 18

Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

Cost: $89-$104

Camp Confidence

Growing up is hard work, and Bethany's Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program is here to help. We are hosting a 5 day summer program for youth 11-14 years, in Moline, IL. We will explore mental health, peer pressure, puberty and more in this week of interactive learning. Youth will grow their confidence to better deal with peer pressure and improve their self-image.
