2017-18 School Year

August 1, 2017

Welcome to the 2017-18 School Year!

As summer is coming to a close, I know our students, parents, and staff are getting excited for another school year to begin. I realize time is getting close when I see so many of our student athletes back preparing for the fall season. We are blessed to live in a community where education is highly valued and supported by all. I know I am personally thankful for the privilege of serving the North Scott Community School District and I look forward to what the 2017-18 school year has in store for us.

We have had a very busy summer getting ready for the start of school. The high school kitchen and serving area have been remodeled; the high school football stadium has new lights, the elementary schools have remodeled bathrooms; and new flooring has been installed in a number of classrooms. This is just a few of the projects that have taken place this summer. Buildings have also been cleaned and are ready for students and staff to return. The maintenance and custodial staff have done a great job getting everything ready for the start of the school year.

Our district continues to focus on improving its curriculum and offerings to students. We had a large number of staff working on curriculum this summer. I appreciate the time our teachers are willing to put in to improve the education of our students. We have expanded our one-to-one computer per student to the sixth grade. I am looking forward to seeing how this enhances student learning at this level. The high school and junior high have expanded the ag and orchestra programs. Even though our budget is very tight, we continue to work hard at improving every opportunity offered to the students.

Although I am extremely proud of the improvements we have made on both our educational programs and facilities, the real key to the success of the North Scott school district is the people who work for us. I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by an entire staff who is dedicated to our district. No matter what position a staff member holds, he/she contributes to making a difference in the life of students resulting in North Scott being better today than it was yesterday.

Thank you to all of the North Scott employees who are helping us grow greatness!

Sincerely,

Joe Stutting

Superintendent of Schools

North Scott Community School District
