In the past month, our North Scott community and school district have experienced some high moments and some difficult challenges. As I reflect on these events, I am impressed by how the Lancer community came together to handle these successes and struggles. It proves that North Scott is definitely a special place to live, work, and attend school.
As the school district has taken on a bold vision of facility improvements, community members have stepped up to help enhance and accelerate this vision. I am proud to announce that our community members have committed approximately $400,000 to the Lancer Legacy Club Capital Campaign. The list of donors is already too long to mention in an article like this, but their support is greatly appreciated.
When I think about the success of all of our student athletes and fine arts participants, I know their success is more than their natural ability. Our parents have laid down a solid foundation for their accomplishments, sacrificing a lot to ensure their children can participate in many activities. Our coaches and advisors do a great job preparing them, not only to be successful in their sport or activity, but also to be prepared with essential life skills. The community not only comes out to support our students when they compete and perform, but many people volunteer time and contribute financially to all of our programs. I am reminded of this generosity every time I see the stands or auditorium filled with standing room only supporters.
Even in tragedy, our community commitment to one another shines through. I have been extremely moved by the support I have witnessed for our families who have been faced with tragedy. I am always impressed by the amount of volunteering and giving North Scott does for so many individuals and groups. We all know we can count on our communities to step-up and support one another in a time of need.
When you think about all of the great things happening in North Scott, it is hard not to be a proud Lancer. I for one am very proud to say that I am part of the North Scott community and that it is a great privilege to lead the North Scott Community School District!
