Safety & Security

In agreement with the Eldridge Police Department, one full-time police officer works all school hours. The officer, who is housed at the High School, serves all seven buildings in the district and attends many school functions.

North Scott utilizes an information sharing system in all potential emergency situations to allow all staff and students to make the best informed decisions for their safety.

180 security cameras cover interior and exterior spaces, plus building entrances continuously. Feeds are viewable by administration and staff for the safety of all who come to our district buildings.

All building entrances are secured by a two locked door system with cameras and intercoms. A school staff member must verify a visitor and grant them access one door at a time in order for them to enter a building.

All visitors have their IDs scanned through the RAPTOR Visitor Management System to allow entrance into the building. They are then provided a sticker badge so that staff and students know they have been permitted into the building.

Bathrooms at the High School and Junior High are equipped with HALO sensors that detect flammables, hazardous chemicals, air quality changes (vape and smoke) and even analyze room occupancy through light detection. HALO can also detect abnormal noise level fluctuations (aggressive behaviors/fighting). The sensors immediately notify administrators if an event is detected, including if someone says “help or emergency.”

North Scott consistently trains and practices the safety measures of ALICE so that all staff and students are knowledgeable and prepared should an emergency situation arise.

P3 allows students and staff to safely and anonymously share their concerns to school administration and law enforcement. P3 Campus is not simply a mailbox for anonymous tips. It allows administration and law enforcement to communicate with the reporter anonymously back-and-forth in real-time to coordinate and maximize investigations, making sure nothing slips through the cracks.

The GETS and WPS systems allow district phones and administrative cell phones receive top priority to phone connections, including cell signals, in the event of an emergency. Phones with this service are able to connect over 99% of the time regardless of demand - ensuring communication with emergency services immediately.
