Grading & Reporting
All grades PreK through 12 reflect student learning of Iowa Core standards. See below for more information about how grades are determined at each level. The purpose of grades at North Scott schools is to accurately communicate and support student learning. All grades are based on standards adopted from the Iowa Core standards. Final grades in K-6 are reported out at the end of each trimester.
Secondary (JH & HS)
The document linked below explains the academic grade and a behavioral grade (referred to as the Lancer Way, see video below) students earn in each course. Proficiency in both of these areas will help students to be college and career ready.

Academic Grades & Lancer Way Scores
This video demonstrates the step-by-step process of accessing student progress reports through the Infinite Campus web portal (or mobile app). The primary focus is explaining where to find the Lancer Way scores, which are North Scott’s specific metrics for evaluating student behavior, citizenship, and employability skills (such as being respectful, responsible, and engaged).
-
Accessing Lancer Way Scores: * Under each course listed in the "Grades" tab, there is a section specifically for "The Lancer Way."
-
The video highlights that these are non-academic scores.
-
By clicking the ">" (greater than) symbol or the specific course name, the view expands to show scores for specific categories like Respectful, Responsible, and Engaged.
-
-
Understanding the Scale: The video briefly shows that these are typically scored on a numeric scale (e.g., 1–4) to provide feedback on the student's conduct and effort in that specific classroom.
