On a Mission to Serve Our Communities

The mission of the North Scott Community School District, a unique blend of rural and metropolitan opportunities, is to produce graduates with the capacity to be successful in a changing world, by incorporating abundant resources and offering a broad-based curriculum in a respectful, safe environment.

Community Involvement

The North Scott Community School District has been built on a strong foundation of community support. We are proud of our active PTA/PTO programs throughout our 5 elementary schools as well as our athletic and activity boosters at the junior high and high school. Our students, teachers, administrators and coaches have the support and backing of our entire community. We foster this relationship by giving back. Nearly 80% of our students participate in community service activities.

Small Town Feel with Big Advantages

With rural farming communities, new suburban neighborhoods, small towns and caring citizens, the North Scott Community School District provides a personal living experience to fit any need. Within ten minutes you can access all that the Quad City area has to offer, including state of-the-art museums, theaters, and entertainment venues.

Focus on Education

Teachers within the North Scott Community School District work and plan together to promote a climate of caring. By effectively attending to the social side of learning, as well as the academic rigor needed in today’s society, we are helping our students achieve academic success and become strong, impactful members of the community.

Rigorous Academic Standards

Our students are challenged with a robust standards-based curriculum that is diversified, allowing students to explore and develop their varied gifts. We are proud of the consistently high test scores achieved at all levels of our district. We know that North Scott students are as good as any in the state of Iowa. What sets us apart is our commitment to excellence on every level. We strive to do our best and be our best every day.

Expansive Opportunities

Our High School students are given many opportunities to excel in career and technology education, including:

  • Agricultural Science
  • Family and Consumer Sciences
  • Business Education
  • Health Sciences

North Scott High School is recognized nationally for increased access to advanced placement courses and is leading the way in concurrent enrollment opportunities with Eastern Iowa Community College. In fact, nearly 80% of our seniors take college (concurrent) credit classes.

Individualized Approach

The North Scott Community School District is committed to helping each individual student achieve excellence. To accomplish this, our teachers, administrators and staff must get to know and understand each student as a unique person. Teams of educators meet on a weekly basis to ensure they are meeting the needs of their students. During these meetings, they discuss strengths as well as areas needing improvement. Teams are able to put focused educational plans in place to keep each child moving in the right direction.
