The Lance is the student newspaper of North Scott High School and publishes nine issues during the school year. Opinions expressed are those of the individual writers and do not necessarily represent the views of the Staff or the administration of the North Scott Community Schools. The Lance strives for accuracy and fairness and is a member of the Iowa High School Press Association. The Lance will accept and welcomes any letter to the editor, but must be signed and are subject to verification for clarity and length. The Young Women's Leadership Forum is a group of high school students, male and female, who meet twice a month. At the meetings the group discusses topics that affect them. Some topics that have been discussed are: stress management, basic car maintenance, the stock market, college applications and preperations, scholarships, self defense, cooking and living in dorms, and personal fitness.

The closeup Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan civic education organization that teaches responsible participation in the democrtatic process through civic education programs and publications on government and citizenship. Our program offers young people, educators and a widening circle of citizens an opportunity to learn how public policy affects their lives and how their own individual and collective efforts affect public policy. Closeup programs and publications provide balanced perspectives on issues, leaving judgents up to the individual. The Foundation accomplishes its mission of civic involvment through partnership with members of the education community, the business sector, and all the branches and levels of the government.
